Situation:
La Casa del Gato is situated near the small hamlet
of Jorox, 4 Km from Alozaina and the same distance
from Yunquera and is served by a tarmac track off
a newly built main road. The local villages of
Jorox, Tolox, Alozaina and Yunquera are situated
in one of the most unspoilt and beautiful corners
of Andalucia. The finca is in an area of outstanding
natural beauty and very close to the Sierra de
las Nieves.
Highlights include mountain and forest scenery,
swim-able rivers, wildlife ( Ibex, wild boar, eagles,
kestrels, songbirds etc), horse-riding, hiking,
bird-watching and mountain-biking. Beaches are
about 40 minutes away ( Marbella ) and Malaga Airport
is about 45 mins, but these times will reduce when
current road works are completed.
Description of the area:
This is one of the less populated parts Andalucia,
relatively unspoiled and still occupied mainly
by local farmers, although tourism is becoming
a second source of income during the summer. The
tourists are mostly attracted to the mountains
and in particular to the Sierra de las Nieves.
Here is found an abundance of wildlife including
ibex, wild boar, smaller mammals and birds such
as eagles, woodpeckers, nightingales and hoopoos
etc. In Summer temperatures rise to the high 30's
regularly and swimming in the rivers is a popular
pastime.
Location:
The finca is located in the parish of Tapezuelas,
to the north-west of Alozaina which is itself to
the north of Coin and Marbella . Alozaina boasts
one of the most friendly and helpful communities
in Andalucia. Access to the coast and the Airport
is already good, but the roads are being dramatically
improved and this can only add to the value of
the property.
Amenities:
At 1Km from the finca is the small hamlet of Jorox
which is set in a picturesque gorge. It only boasts
one bar with a restaurant set back into natural
caves but Alozaina (4 kms. down the valley) has
primary and secondary schools, two banks, a health
centre, three supermarkets, several other shops
and about ten bar/restaurants. There is a street
market every Tuesday morning. Local sports include
horse riding, trekking, trail bikes etc.
