of interest and general interest:
- A
ruined medieval castle
- Cave
of the Moor

of the river Cuevas
- Neolithic
remains have been found in caves in several
areas of the local mountains.
- Remains
of a Roman imperial presence are evidenced
by ceramics and coins.
- A
site of special interest is the Roman
pottery complex almost unique in Andalucia,
of which two complete kilns are conserved.
- It
is known that the Arabs occupied the
town for many centuries. Much architectural,
but little documentary, evidence remains.
- The
Christians finally conquered the town
at the beginning of the15th century.
Fiestas
The town celebrates several fiestas including;

- Jan
17th, San Anton, patron saint of the
village.
- Feb
2nd Candelarias.
- In
Lent, the fiesta of San Jose when neighbours
go into the country with food and wine.Amid
much dancing and singing a large doll
representing an old woman is destroyed.
- May
15th is the Romeria for San Isidro.
- In
July there is Immigrants' Day.
- In
Sept, San Anton is celebrated again for
three days and later in the month is
the fiesta of the Chestnuts.
Flora
and Fauna
The
countryside is generally mountainous with
many oak trees. Main crops are chick -peas,
wheat, barley, olives and sun-flowers.
In the area there are Mountain Cats, Roe-Deer,
Mongooses,Eagles, Hawks, Kestrels and Royal
Owls.
